World Youth Day Cologne 2005
 

Our World Youth Day Pilgrimage was and continues to be a tremendous blessing to the participants, our youth program and all the youth around the world. We took 79+ teens, young adults and adults on a trip of a life time. We experienced all kinds of emotions from not only the sites we saw in Rome, Assisi, and Germany, but also the spiritual encounters we had as a community of believers with a common goal. Our days in Assisi brought us to the tombs of St. Clare and St. Francis. Both these saints emulate the love of Christ and His passion to be love to all. We walked the very ground that Francis preached to the poor and his townspeople. In Rome, we saw our Catholic home, the Vatican, St. Peter's Square, St. Peter's Basilica, etc... We were flooded with the presence of the Holy Spirit. We eventually gathered together in Germany with a million other catholic pilgrims, including Pope Bendict XVI, to celebrate our faith and proclaim that Christ is the ruler of our hearts. Our pilgrimage mirrored our life journey to heaven. We had our struggles physical, emotional, and spiritual; but all of these crosses that we carried brought us closer to our Redeemer. Like St. John of the cross testified in his writings, our brothers and sisters who we traveled with became our polishing stones. I pray that we are closer to becoming beautiful gemstones for God's crown of glory. We thank our family, friends, and all those who supported us throughout the preparations and the actual trip. May God help to be servants to you all and be witnesses of Christ's grace and love.
