Altar Server Teams - updated 9/26/2011
Altar Server Schedule Sep to Dec 31, 2011

These volunteers serve our assembly by decorating and preparing the Church and worship space (for the specific liturgical season) where we encounter each other in the Body of Christ.  This provides a beautiful environment that enhances liturgical celebrations, sets the mood for worship and enhances spirituality.

Our various Music Ministries support the liturgy and lead the congregation closer to the Eucharist through musical worship.  Music is an important aspect of all our weekend ministries, including all Masses, as well as special services needed throughout the year.  Volunteers are needed to sing and/or play musical instruments in the various ensembles.

These lay ministers are commissioned by our bishop to assist the priest in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at each Mass, as they are needed.  They also assist in the distribution of ashes on Ash Wednesday.  This ministry is open to fully initiated Catholics who have a deep love for the Holy Eucharist and for the body of Christ. Must be in full communion with the Church. If married, must be in a Catholic Marriage. High school teens may participate in this ministry once they have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Schedule Jan 7th - April 1st, 2012

The lector is commissioned by the Bishop to proclaim the Living Word of God to the assembly in our liturgical worship.  Through them, God speaks to the gathered faithful.  This ministry is open to fully initiated Catholics who have a deep love for Holy Scripture and for the listening assembly. Must be in full communion with the Church. If married, must be in a Catholic Marriage. High school teens may participate in this ministry once they have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Lector Schedule 4th Quarter 2011

This ministry is vigilant during the distribution of Holy Communion at each Mass and guards against its profanation.  Members watch to be sure that the host is consumed and not discarded in an unholy manner.

The primary role of the MC is to assist in organizing the Mass and directing all liturgical movement so it flows with the proper decorum.  This is a vibrant exciting and rewarding ministry. MC’s commit to one weekend Mass per month and an occasional meeting or weeknight Mass for special celebrations or feast days. MC’s are required to have organizational skills, be able to give and take directions and work well with children (Altar Servers).

The sacristan undertakes the overall preparation of liturgical celebrations, including all that is needed for special days such as Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday.  Always under the general direction of the clergy, sacristans are charged with the care of the sacristy, the church and its contents, and arrange the liturgical books, the vestments, and other things necessary in the celebration of Mass.

This ministry is one that helps our parish create a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere at liturgical celebrations by greeting parishioners and visitors.   Ushers answer questions, assist those who need physical assistance, and help worshipers to find seating.  They are also responsible for helping with the collection and guiding traffic flow for those receiving communion.
