Nathan and Debbie Yoshimura have been married for 19 years and are the very proud parents of four children – Joseph, Killian, Madeleine and Joshua. The Yoshimuras have been parishioners here at St. Peter and St. Paul for just over seven years. With Nathan as her Number One Champion, Debbie has been an invaluable member of our parish’s Religious Education team since 2002. Her volunteer work has included being Director of the 9th Grade Pre-Confirmation Class, small group leader for 7th grade boys in the Edge program, and small group leader for 1st year, 10th grade young men in the Confirmation program. She is also a member of the Willing Vessels Prayer Group, and is an Intercessor for the Lord, which she describes as an intimate way to pray for others in union with Jesus. But none of that just happened overnight. She says that her work in ministry didn’t start until, in her words, “The Lord took me through a conversion process that totally changed my life – mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.” She goes on to say that these ministries aren’t really about her. Instead, she says, “they’re a little bit of what Jesus’ life looks like within me, what he has called me to do, and the graces and the gifts he has given me to accomplish what he wants done though me.” Nathan and Debbie say that their greatest hope for the parish is that “each one of us will answer Christ’s call, a call he is giving to each one of us so that our parish will be a place of warmth, welcoming and healing.”
