David and Linda Hahn have been members of St. Peter & St. Paul Parish for just over six years, but in that time have distinguished themselves as pillars of our parish’s dynamic St. Vincent de Paul program, a society that was originally founded in 1833 by six university students who wanted to provide direct aid to those who suffer. In the course of their years with our own St. Vincent de Paul Society, David and Linda have certainly seen their share of suffering – either through poverty, abuse, illness, accidents, or as the result of natural disasters. A couple of years after moving to Alta Loma, Linda heard a talk about the St. Vincent De Paul Society and their need for volunteers. She recalls thinking she’d go to one of the meetings to, in her words, “just check things out.” Well, things clicked, and when Linda was asked why she was considering joining the group, she answered, “Because you don’t need any special talents, just a willingness to serve.” Before long, she had convinced David that had too had a calling to serve, and he has been at her side as her faithful supporter and fellow volunteer in her many efforts. For Linda, those efforts include going out to visit needy and marginalized clients along with her volunteer partner, Barbara Marsden, every Tuesday for the past three years. In addition to being a Eucharistic Minister here at St. Peter & St. Paul, Linda currently serves as Chairperson for the St. Vincent de Paul’s San Bernardino Fire Relief Victims. David and Linda urge everyone at St. Peter and St. Paul to join a ministry, saying that “then we will all really be a family, knowing and caring about each other – one holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church family.”
