What is Eucharistic Adoration?
Catholics believe that during the Mass which we attend each week (for some of us daily), the priest (during the consecration) speaks these words as he holds the communion host, "...He took bread and gave you thanks. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: Take this all of you, and eat it: this is my body which will be given up for you". When the priest says "this my body", it is at that instant when, through the miracle of transubstantiation, the bread and wine which we offer as the bloodless sacrifice to our Lord truly become the Body, Blood , Soul and Divinity of Jesus. It is His true Presence in the form of bread and wine. It is Christ.

What do during a holy hour?
A holy hour is not a project to be accomplished but and exercise of love. You can read a spiritual book, say the rosary, perform some act of piety which means something in your life, or you can just DO nothing, Just rest with the Lord. The important thing is to realize that you need time -- apart from the liturgical prayer of the Mass and even obligatory prayers like the Liturgy of the Hours for priests--where you experience God's personal care for you alone

Many people think there is a plaster of Paris image to which they need to conform and they try to look like the statues they see in church. They do not want to talk about negative or hurtful things in God's presence because they think this is unfitting. You cannot be like that. You must bring the REAL YOU before God. This means yourself with all your hurts, the warts and the strengths. You must ask God to heal you of your faults and help you use your strength for His goodness.

From 8:00 am Friday until 8:00 am Saturday, you will find on our altar in the Adoration Chapel (located at the south end of the Parish Hall) a beautiful vessel called the "Monstrance" which holds a large consecrated Host. Jesus is present in the consecrated Host, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. Come spend some time at the feet of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Bring with you your cares, concerns and your joys. Lift them all up to him in silent worship and praise. There is no training required you can just sit in His presence or you can use your own personal prayer books and reflections to help in your meditation and prayer. We also have prayer books in the pews. You do not have to come for a specific time. Just come and spend whatever time you can with our Lord.

October 6, 2011 will be our fifth anniversary of our 24 hour Friday Adoration. We have added Wednesdays  as an additional day of adoration which starts after the 8 am Mass and goes until 8:00 pm. It is necessary to always have two committed adorers present at all time with the Blessed Sacrament.  We are hopeful in the future to make Wednesdays  24 hours as well. Please prayerfully consider this commitment to help achieve our goal for Jesus.
